Description
Before, during, and after disasters, CERT volunteer teams perform basic response activities, including checking in on neighbors, distributing information to the public, supporting emergency operations centers, and helping to manage traffic and crowds. Local CERT programs train and organize teams of volunteers to assist their families, neighbors, co-workers, and other community members.

IS-315.A: CERT and the Incident Command System (ICS) found at https://training.fema.gov/is/courseoverview.aspx?code=IS-315.a&lang=en IS-317.A: Introduction to Community Emergency Response Team (CERTs) found at https://training.fema.gov/is/courseoverview.aspx?code=IS-317.a&lang=en Each course must be taken online and you must pass the exam in order to receive a certificate. Target Audience
CERT Basic Training is a course that serves as an introduction to CERT for those wanting to complete training or as a refresher for current team members that have not had the course in the past 5 years The CERT Program educates citizens in the community with various backgrounds about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations

Additional Information
The Basic CERT course is two consecutive weekends of November 7th-8th and November 14th-15th. The Saturday times are from 9 am-5 pm and Sunday times are from 1 pm-5 pm. Registrants will receive a course overview and preparation email prior to course start date. All four days should be completed in order to receive the certificate of completion. This certificate is required to be considered certified CERT. Any missed sections may be completed with make-up assignments to be determined from the CERT Program Manager. Coordinate questions with the CERT Program Manager Destiny Nunez.
