*Bring $15 CASH ONLY for the testing/licensing session.
*We will be working out of the 2018-2022 Technician Class FCC Element 2 Amateur Radio License Preparation book written by Gordon West, WB6NOA. This book contains the complete 423-question FCC Element 2 question pool effective July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2022. It is not required, but highly encouraged that students purchase this book prior to class as it not only contains the question pool with the answers for the exam, it contains an explanation for each of the questions.
The FCC question pool without the explanations can also be found online for free at http://www.ncvec.org/page.php?id=369. Students will also need to apply for a free FRN number. This will be used in lieu of your Social Security number. You can apply for an FCC Registration Number (FRN) by going to: https://apps.fcc.gov/cores/userLogin.do. Please bring your lunch each day. *COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course will teach you what you need to know in order to get your first FCC Amateur Radio license In addition to being a great hobby, there is a serious side as well-when ham radio becomes a public service When emergencies strike, ham operators are at their best Ham radios, often times, are the only means of communications following a disaster where they continually keep emergency responders in contact with many necessary resources Ham operators also provide communications support for many blue-sky events such as bike rides, marathons and parades Morse code is NOT required for this course We will have a team on Sunday to administer the FCC licensing exam Please bring $15 00 CASH ONLY for the testing session Please read the additional information

*Arrive early to go through security and find parking.
*Bring something to take notes.
*The room may turn cold so bring jacket/sweater.
*The facility has a cafeteria with a refrigerator, microwave, toaster-oven, and vending machines.
