FL-601.PA Damage Assessments (PA)
This training reviews the importance and purpose of conducting and accurately reporting Local Damage Assessments following a disaster, required reporting documentation, and details of the Joint Preliminary Damage Assessments. Training with include an overview of the Public Assistance (PA) program and the pathway to the Joint Preliminary Damage Assessments (Joint PDA). Training emphasis is on the Public Assistance (PA) program, Thresholds, Categories of Work, Applicant Eligibility and related Public Assistance (PA) program information only. Training will focus on the importance and purpose of conducting and accurately reporting Local Damage Assessments following a presidentially declared disaster. This is an interactive course using various technology and tools for learner engagement.
Target Audience
This training is intended for local and state officials and others assigned damage assessment duties
This may include: Anyone who may be tasked with going out in the field to conduct damage assessments after a disaster will benefit from this class
The county may wish to send targeted employees who may be handling this function in the event of a disaster
GIS staff who handle damage assessments utilizing technology are encouraged to attend as well since the focus has been broadened to encompass this methodology
Course Objective
Provide an overview of the Public Assistance Programs and how they relate to PDA Explain how the Local Damage Assessments/Preliminary Damage Assessments (PDA) are integral to the overall declaration process Describe the depth and necessity of an Local Damage Assessment at the county level after a disaster List and describe the steps in the Public Assistance (PA) Preliminary Damage Assessment process Demonstrate practical knowledge and understanding of Public Assistance (PA) Preliminary Damage Assessments
