FL-617 Introduction to Public Assistance for Houses of Worship
This training is designed to guide Houses of Worship (HOWs) through the process of applying for and receiving Public Assistance (PA) as a Private Nonprofit (PNP). We will review common reasons for losing federal funding and discuss strategies HOWs can use to mitigate these issues. The training will offer an overview of the process, ensuring that Emergency Managers (EMs) and volunteers are equipped with the knowledge to assist a House of Worship throughout the PA process.

Course Objective
Describe Program Eligibility Requirements and Complete a Request for Public Assistance (RPA): Understand the eligibility criteria for Public Assistance and the process of filling out and submitting an RPA
Identify and Categorize Emergency and Permanent Work: Understand the Emergency and Permanent Work categories and how to classify work activities accordingly
Explain Special Project Types and Submitting Requests: Learn about small, 428, and expedited projects, and how to submit special project requests
Review Procurement Activities and Emergency Procurement Applications: Understand procurement requirements and the process for submitting emergency and exigent procurement applications
Describe Insurance, Environmental Historic Preservation (EHP), and Mitigation Requirements for Houses of Worship: Learn the specific requirements for insurance, EHP, and mitigation for Houses of Worship
