Name AWR-160 WMD Terrorism Awareness for Emergency First Responders : ( AWR-160)
Description The WMD/Terrorism Awareness for Emergency First Responders course was designed to provide the participant with knowledge of Hazardous Materials, Weapons of Mass Destruction and response to incidents involving these materials. This Basic course introduces the participant to topics such as Hazardous Materials and WMD recognition, the Emergency Response Guide, NFPA 704 marking system, and more. This course is NFPA 472 compliant and meets the requirements for Hazardous Materials Awareness Level training.
PreRequisite • IS-100: Introduction to the Incident Command System • IS-700.a: National Incident Management Systems (NIMS), An introduction FEMA / SID Number Students must register and bring a copy of their SID number to class. Register online: cdp.dhs.gov/femasid

Additional Information ***MUST REGISTER IN TEEX and SERTTrac** Link: https://my.teex.org/TeexPortal/Default.aspx?MO=mCourseCatalog&D=FP&C=OGT208&S=332 This course provides a basic awareness of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) hazards; how to use the Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG); and how to prepare individuals to lessen further injuries or property losses. Awareness-level training does not certify a responder to perform ongoing operations at an incident. This course focuses on training responders to meet the requirements established in National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 470, Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Standard for Responders (2022 edition). This course also covers Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response, 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) §1910.120(q)(6)(i), and the National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP), NIPP 2013: Partnering for Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience.
