Description The Bombing Prevention Awareness Course provides participants knowledge of general bombing prevention measures that aid in mitigating the impact of a bombing incident, including: IED construction and classification Homemade explosive (HME) precursor awareness Explosive effects mitigation Introduction to the terrorist attack cycle Identification of suspicious behaviors and items This is an 8 hour course. This course is offered by the "Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency Office for Bombing Prevention".
PreRequisite
Target Audience Public and private sector individuals interested in or required to have a basic awareness of bombing prevention measures
Public safety personnel, emergency managers, law enforcement, and special event security personnel can also benefit from the course
Additional Information Department of Homeland Security - Office of Bombing Prevention (DHS-OBP) – Empowered Training Program DESCRIPTION: The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Office for Bombing Prevention (OBP) Empowered Trainer Program (ETP) empowers Federal, State, local, tribal, territorial (FSLTT) and private sector trainers with the ability to deliver OBP’s awareness level bombing prevention training. The program is designed to build the counter-improvised explosive device (C-IED) training capabilities of FSLTT and private sector stakeholders by providing trainers with the essential knowledge, tools, and training support necessary to effectively deliver C-IED and risk mitigation training in their communities and organizations using accredited OBP curriculum and learning management systems. •FIRST DAY: The BPAC suite of courses (listed below) • AWR-348: Bombing Prevention Awareness (BPAC) - (an eight-hour course that can be taught as individual courses that are 75-90 minutes in duration) • AWR-333: IED Construction and Classification – (75 min) • AWR-334: Introduction to the Terrorist Attack Cycle – (90 min) • AWR-335: Response to Suspicious Behaviors and Items – (75 min) • AWR-337: IED Explosives Effects and Mitigation – (75 min) • AWR-338: Homemade Explosives (HME) and Precursor Awareness – (75 min) • SECOND DAY: Will be the four new courses (listed below) along with a session on adult learning principles. • AWR-340: Protective Measures Awareness – (60 min) • AWR-945: Bomb Threat Assessments for Decision Makes – (60 min) • AWR-943: Suspicious Activity Recognition for Bombing Prevention – (60 min) • AWR-939: Introduction to Bomb threat Management – (60 min) •THIRD DAY: Will be the teach back sessions and then an orientation on how to use the Center for Domestic Preparedness(CDP) Learning Management System (LMS).
