Name L-278 National Flood Insurance Program/Community Rating System : ( L-278)
Description This course covers the Community Rating System (CRS), a nationwide initiative of FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). It describes activities eligible for credit under the 2013 CRS Coordinator’s Manual, how a community applies, and how a community modifies an application to improve its classification.
PreRequisite You will be required to sign up on the FEMA website to attend this course. This process will be sent to each student by the course manager Jillian Kraynak at a later date.
Target Audience This course is intended for a wide range of participants including FEMA regional office staff, NFIP state coordinators, regional planning officials, local and tribal government officials, those who perform floodplain services for local governments, and others interested in learning about the CRS in order to provide technical assistance to communities seeking to apply for CRS credit
Attendance will be limited to two participants from any one community in any fiscal year
Additional Information Welcome to the 278 National Flood Insurance Program/Community Rating System scheduled for October 28-31,2024 at the Florida Division of Emergency Management, located at 2555 Shumard Oak Blvd. Tallahassee, Fl. 32399. You will need to report to Kelley Training Center (Rm. 350). Please park in the back parking lot and security will let you in. Make sure you bring your government ID to receive a guest pass. The security officer will notify Jillian of when individuals start arriving to escort everyone to the Kelley Training Room on the Third Floor. Class will begin promptly by 8:30 am daily. Jillian Kraynak will be your on-site coordinator for the week and can be reached at jillian.kraynak@em.myflorida.com or 850-815-4560. Please read this letter thoroughly to ensure you are prepared for the upcoming course. Students must achieve a minimum passing score of 75% on final knowledge assessment/s or demonstrate mastery on performance assessments or research assignments to earn the IACET CEU. One attempt at Remediation is offered on the last day of class if you score below the required 75% passing score. You are required to attend the entire course; failure to do so may result in you not receiving credit. Please plan any meetings around breaks or the end of class.
