Name SERC 008 Hazardous Materials Medical Protocols / Toxidromes : ( SERC 008)
Description This session will focus on the more common exposures that take place. During the presentation, the speakers will review the types of exposures, signs and symptoms, and protocols. A hazardous materials trained paramedic will be equipped to identify and intervene with victims of chemical exposures related to accidental or intentional releases. In addition to the specific exposures discussed above, the speakers will also present the benefit of having trained paramedics along with the requirements and resources needed to maintain a program within a department or region.
Target Audience • Technician Level • Hazardous Materials Officer • Hazardous Materials Safety Officer • Incident Commander • FireMedics • EMS Medics State of FL first responders: This course will present materials that are consistent with NFPA 473 including identification, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of victims who have been exposed to hazardous chemicals
The course will also address chemical and physical properties, medical surveillance and command responsibilities
The course will teach the appropriate response to chemical incidents involving victims exposed to hazardous chemicals and guide them in the application of emergency medical protocols
