Name AWR-308 Natural Disaster Awareness for Senior caregivers : ( AWR-308)
Description This 4-hour course is designed to enhance the caregiver’s awareness of vulnerability factors associated with senior citizens. Senior citizens are particularly vulnerable to natural hazards. Factors such as physical limitations, mental ailments, and medication requirements are issues of concern for caregivers of senior citizens. These specific needs, amongst other considerations for natural hazards, must be addressed in preparedness plans for these at-risk citizens. Participants will learn how to identify, prepared, and perform a number of support activities that will ensure the safety and security of senior citizens when a natural hazard event occurs. Particular attention is directed toward developing an awareness of the preparedness and response needs of all senior citizens, inclusive of economic, medical, cognitive and mobility determinants

Target Audience Those who require care such as seniors and children are particularly vulnerable to natural hazards

This course is designed to enhance the caregiver’s awareness of vulnerability factors for those who require care
Participants will learn how to identify, prepared, and perform a number of support activities that will ensure the safety and security of care receivers when a natural hazard event occurs
Participants will also be introduced to best practices for personal preparedness prior to a disaster and encouraged to discuss plans and actions that they have already taken
Participants will then explore special considerations for disaster preparedness for dependents and those with access and functional needs
Target Audience: Health Professionals; Emergency Managers; caregivers who provide care to family members, friends, personal attendants, Home Health Agencies, in-house services, roommates, and medical personnel
Additional Information Course begins at 8am and will end at 12 noon. This is a one (1) day course, please choose between one of the days being offered. Please bring a jacket, the EOC is often cold.
