Description
The Operations course is designed to provide operations level responders with the cognitive knowledge and hands-on skills required by OSHA 1910.120 (q) and the Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness (HMEP) Guidelines for Public Sector Hazardous Materials Training. This course is applicable to all response personnel from all areas of emergency response, providing the skills necessary to take defensive actions at the scene of an incident involving hazardous materials. Particular emphasis is placed on protecting the responders themselves, the public, property, and the environment. Each trainee in the Operations Course is supplied with a copy of the CDC NIOSH Pocket Guide to Chemical Hazards as a professional resource. This course has been progressively modified and optimized to our target training population through the development of maritime-specific modules including: (i) vessel familiarization, including construction and layout; (ii) container construction; (iii) port organization

Target Audience
Please note that the participant may take the Awareness course (8hr
) on Apr
30, and complete the Operations in May (2 & 3) or later by the end of the next calendar year, in this case, by December 31, 2019
Also, in order to take the Operations course, the Awareness is a pre-requisite, making it a full 24-hr

Our Target student/trainee population includes: • Port and dock workers • Port Authority/Law enforcement • Maritime and offshore workers • Oil industry professionals • Cruise ship personnel (shipboard and dockside) • Public and private sectors • Firefighters • Emergency medical technicians • HazMat technicians and first responders • Emergency management personnel - marine incidents
