Name
FL-601-IA Damage Assessment (IA), including the Small Business Administration (SBA) loan process.
This course is intended for local and state officials and others assigned damage assessment duties. It discusses the importance and purpose of conducting and reporting accurate Initial Damage Assessments following a disaster and details the Joint Preliminary Damage Assessments that follow. This is an interactive course with new material from the FEMA changes in April of 2016. It is a single phase training with emphasis solely on the Individual Assistance (IA) program and related functions.
Target Audience
Anyone who may be tasked with going in field to conduct damage assessments after a disaster will benefit from this class
The county may wish to send targeted employees who may be handling this function in the event of a disaster
GIS staff who handle damage assessments utilizing technology are encouraged to attend as well since the focus has been broadened to encompass this methodology
Course Objective
Provide an overview of the Individual Assistance Programs and how they relate to IDA/PDA
Explain how the Initial Damage Assessments/Preliminary Damage Assessments (IDA/PDA) are integral to the overall declaration process
Describe the depth and necessity of an Initial Damage Assessment at the county level after a disaster
List and describe the steps in the Individual Assistance Preliminary Damage Assessment process
Demonstrate practical knowledge and understanding of Individual Assistance Preliminary Damage Assessments
