Description
Generic event added to the course catalog to be used when scheduling Conferences, Divisional Trainings, Event, Exercise, Meeting, Seminar, or Workshop to effectively show this event on the calendar.
PreRequisite
Successful completion of Basic Epidemiology online program. The 4-hour online program, Basic Epidemiology, must be completed prior to registering for IFIRST. In response to the difficulty some participants have had in accessing the Basic Epidemiology course through our LMS, we have posted the training materials in our collection in USF’s Scholar Commons as well: http://scholarcommons.usf.edu/clphp_perlc/ CEUs will be available.
Target Audience
Target Audience: Public health professionals and their community partners who may be called upon to serve on Field Epidemiology Strike Teams to assist local, regional, state, and national epidemiology staff in disease investigations during surge capacity events
Course Description and Goals: To help participants develop an increased and improved knowledge of and skills in concepts and practices associated with responding to a BT event or public health disaster
To increase the number of public health professionals capable of participating on a strike team in an outbreak investigation and resulting activities during a bioterrorism (BT) event or other public health threat
To improve the capacity of the health department to respond effectively during a BT event or other public health disaster
Additional Information
Class will start promptly at 8:00am and end approximately at 5:00pm. Rooms may turn cold so place bring jacket or coat just in case. Dress appropriately for on-hand activities but no open-toed shoes, shorts, or sleeveless shirts
