Workshop Description:
This Continuity of Operations (COOP) Workshop is designed to provide emergency management personnel, continuity practitioners and Emergency Support Function (ESF) staff with COOP and Continuity of Government (COG) planning responsibilities a robust understanding of their roles, responsibilities and the capabilities for an effective COOP plan. Additionally, another goal of the workshop is to allow participants to sharpen analytical capabilities and skills in contingency planning and emphasize the importance of integrating the State Crosswalk and the Continuity Assistance Tool (CAT) to provide assistance and guidance for State, Local, Territories, Tribal and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s).

The Workshop provides an overview of program requirements including roles and responsibilities, plans and procedures, implementation, mission essential functions, delegation of authority, succession planning, communications, alternate facilities and resources The Workshop also addresses Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP) requirements as well as the legal criteria for the State and Local Governments, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), the Tribal Government and other stakeholders to assist with plan development of an effective and viable COOP plan during an emergency or event
Workshop Objectives:
Upon completion of the workshop, participants should be able to do the following:
•Incorporate Federal and State criteria for Continuity of Operations and Continuity of Government Planning (COOP/COG)
•Integrate the Continuity Assistance Tool (CAT) and State Crosswalk into the planning process
•Learn process to identify Mission Essential Functions (MEF)
•Implement the Elements of Viable Continuity Capability
•Define organizational elements of viable supporting activities or tasks
•Define key elements to address contingency and plan development
